Stühle, Hocker und anderes Sitzmöbel......

Was Sie erwartet

In dieser Wochenkurs werden wir alle einen Hocker oder Stuhl herstellen. Bei der Gestaltung sind wir völlig frei in der Form, aber die Ofengröße begrenzt die Außenmaße des Stuhls, es sei denn, wir fertigen ihn in Teilen.

Ich gehe vorerst von einem einteiligen Stuhl oder Hocker aus. Der erste Schritt ist die Gestaltung -  vielleicht haben Sie bereits zu Hause Ideen entwickelt. Wir schauen uns den Entwurf gemeinsam an, und dabei ist es oft sinnvoll ein kleines Modell zu fertigen, weil es uns eine klarere Vorstellung davon gibt, wie wir technisch an die Sache herangehen können.

Sobald es einen klaren Aktionsplan gibt, kann es losgehen. Wir bauen das Design von Hand auf, bei Bedarf mit einer inneren Struktur für mehr Stabilität. Sobald das Design fertig ist, können wir sofort Farbe mit Engoben hinzufügen und auf Wunsch mit einer Glasur für Glanz sorgen.

Sobald alles fertig ist, kann der Stuhl trocknen. Die Objekte können auf Wunsch im Kunstzentrum gebrannt werden.

During this midweek we will all make a stool or chair. In the design we are completely free in shape, but the oven size decides the outer dimensions of the chair, unless we make it in parts.

For now I'm assuming a one-piece chair or stool. The first step is the design, and you may have already developed ideas at home. We look at the design together, and a small model is often useful because it gives us a clearer idea of how we can approach it technically.

As soon as there is a clear plan of action, we can start, and technically I can help and adjust where necessary.

We build the design by hand, with an inner structure for strength, if necessary. Once the design is finished, we can immediately add color with engobes and, if desired, add shine with a glaze.

Once everything is finished, the chair can dry and the Kunstzentrum then fires the chair so that it is finished and can be picked up.

In terms of materials, it is important that there is enough plastic available to properly wrap the pieces in progress for the night. I find a piece of wood to shape the clay and make it smoother,  indispensable, and some metal or wooden Lomers to perfect the shape.

A cutting wire to remove the clay from the pack in slices, so that we can work with large pieces to keep up the pace. Five days is enough to build, and also to look critically at the shape and adjust where necessary.

Die Dozentin

Beatrijs van Rheeden, geb. 1965 in Groningen ( Niederlande).
Von 1984 bis 1989 absolvierte Beatrijs van Rheeden ein Lehramtsstudium für Kunst und Kunsthandwerk an der Akademie für Kunst in Groningen und 1988/89 ein Studium der Monumentalkeramik an der Akademie für Kunst in Kampen. Von 1989 bis 1991 studierte sie an der Akademie für Angewandte Künste in Budapest (Ungarn) mit dem Abschluss ‚Magister’. Ab 1991 Dozentin in den Niederlanden und im Ausland. Eigenes Atelier für Porzellan und Keramik. Gastprofessuren in Belgien, Deutschland und Ungarn. Sie erhielt zahlreiche Preise und nahm an national und international renommierten Ausstellungen teil, so u.a. in Paris, Budapest, Siklós, München, Rotterdam und Auckland.

Beatrijs van Rheeden, born in 1965 Groningen ( Nederlands)  From 1984 to 1984 Beatrijs van Rheeden graduated at the Art Academy in Groningen, teacher training course in crafts, and from 1988 to 1989 at the Art Academy in Kampen, monumental ceramics. From 1989 to 1991 she studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest, Hungary, master degree in ceramics. She got lots of prizes and took part in numerous national and international famous exhibitions in cities like Paris, Budapest, Siklós, Munich, Rotterdam and Auckland.
